December 2018: The Luxor is a MGM hotel and is located on the south end of Vegas strip between Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. Being next door to Mandalay Bay was great as we saw Michael Jackson ONE our first night in Vegas.
The pre- check-in process is great when it works. There were 4 rooms in our group. All were pre-checked at the same time and all rooms were on the same floor. However, 2 phone calls later (approximately one hour between the 2 calls), my room was the last to be ready.
I stayed in a Pyramid Queen Room. Although I had the room to myself, there is ample room for 2 people. I prefer a firmer mattress but it was still comfortable. The way the hotel is setup (restaurants, casino, etc. in the center) I did not hear any disturbances. One section of the wall had wallpaper peeling (see photo).
There is lots of storage for your clothes. There is also a small safe.
The bathroom is a nice size. The water pressure is ample and heats up fast. The handle in the shower to turn the water needs repairing. It felt as though it would fall off at any moment.
If you like to bring your leftovers back to eat later, there was no mini fridge or microwave. There also is no coffee maker. The wheel on the desk chair was broke.
The temperature in the room was cold. The fan may be turned low. The thermostat may be turned down. Adjusting both did not change the room temperature.
The WiFi works great for streaming. Basic TV channels are fine as you may not spend a lot of time in your room.
Try your luck in the casino. There are so many slot machines from which to choose.
My view…see photo. The other 3 rooms had a great view view of the pool area.
The bell and restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly. Be sure to dine at the Pyramid Cafe. The food is great!
I would rate my stay as a 3.5. If you will stay at the Luxor, I recommend upgrading your room
