Buffet Central for breakfast. Then we waited for the shuttle to the San Juan Shopping Center. Pickup time is 10:40 am.
The shuttle service is $5 per person. We were dropped off on the side entrance where there were a few souvenir stands and the Blue Marlin. Tipping the driver is requested.
San Juan is located within walking distance of Coco Bongo. Jumbo supermarket is the largest store in the shopping center. You can stock up on snacks for your room.
A few souvenir kiosks are present. Payless may have closed in the United States but is operati\nonal in the Dominican Republic. You will also find cellular, clothing, cigar, organic and souvenir shops. IKEA and Pizza Hut sit on the same lot.
My only purchases were Mamajuana, refrigerator magnets and one Romeo cigar. The Mamajuana I purchased is made with red wine, honey and medicinal tree roots (not marijuana).
Our driver is to pick us up at 1:40 pm. We have time to sit down at the Blue Marlin and have a drink and water. Alcoholic beverages are 1 for $2 or 2 for $3; bottled water, $1.
If you want to go to grocery shop, see the souvenirs available, dine at Pizza Hut or just to see the center for yourself, definitely go. It is 3 hours of your time. San Juan is a much smaller center than I am accustomed to.
We arrived back in time for lunch!
We arrived early for our 6:30 pm dinner reservation. If you arrive late, your reservation will be canceled. Doors are open promptly at 6:30 pm following their group prayer.
Dinner was delicious! Huge portion. Mamajuana was served before dinner. It’s good also. Everyone at our table participated in the toast. You may choose red or white wine with your meal.
Tomorrow is my designated beach day…the day before we fly back to the United States.
